Conversation Course (DARDASHA)
This is the ideal course if you want to listen more attentively, speak more confidently and communicate more clearly. Arabic Conversation courses will help you improve all aspects of oral communication in Egyptian Colloquial Arabic.
We’ll develop your listening skills to help you better follow and participate in conversations.
You will learn more than stock phrases; we will teach you the language you need to know how to speak with greater fluency in a wide variety of situations. We will help you work on your speaking skills by encouraging conversation through role-plays, debates, mini-presentations and discussions. We will encourage you to participate in cultural events and different opportunities to engage with cultures and languages outside of the classroom.
You will be able to handle short social exchanges and communicate in simple and routine tasks such as: describing future plans and past events; expressing likes and dislikes; talking about hobbies; describing pictures, scenes, family members, cities, and places; comparing different workplaces and different occasions;, expressing old habits in the past (used to do).
You will be able to communicate information in areas of personal importance and relevance such as: reporting events; describing feelings and emotions; narrating stories and talking about events that happened in the recent past; discussing historical events; planning; probabilities; using conditionals for future probabilities; expressing assumptions.
You will be able to deal with most topics that might arise in Arab countries such as: talking about Arab countries’ landmarks and monuments; the advantages and disadvantages of travelling; talking about jobs and skills required for certain jobs; personal characteristics that fit certain jobs; the current state of education; early marriage and divorce.
You will be able to understand current affairs and TV news, as well as some talk shows. You will be able to understand some selected films. You will be able to discuss in with natives.
You will be able to take an active part in discussions with native speakers and colleagues in many contexts, and be able to sustain your view point. Authentic audio-visual materials will be used to teach and discuss cultural, social and political issues in Arab countries. You will be able to discuss in much different topics with natives.
There are no grades, quizzes, tests, or other types of formal evaluation in this course. Students will engage in various activities with the goal of improving their listening and speaking skills.
In this course we create regular special sessions of native Egyptians to converse with you in the topics that you study in the course.
We offer three types of courses: intensive, long-term and online:
The intensive course is an ideal choice for you if you want to speak more confidently, practice listening more attentively, and learn phrases that help with your fluency as quickly as possible while studying abroad. This will give you the most class time and will allow you to fit more learning into a shorter space of time if you cannot be away from your home country for too long.
Intensive courses consist of 32 hours of teaching over four weeks, which is provided as four 2-hour classes per week (32 hours / 4 weeks / 4 days a week / 2 hours a session / 8 hours per week).
The long-term course is suitable for people already living and working in Egypt who want to speak more confidently, practice listening more attentively, and learn phrases to improve your fluency, but not on a full-time basis.
Long-term courses consist of 32 hours of teaching over eight weeks, which is provided as two 2-hour classes per week (32 hours / 8 weeks /2 days a week / 2 hours a session / 4 hours per week).
